First attempt Dopuble page spread

this is my first attempt at my double page spread, things I think went well are the main image and the pull qoute, however I dont like how the page is set out and this is somthing im going to massivly change, im going to get rid of the large L as i dont think it looks professtional.

First attempt contents page

This is my first attempt at my contents page, things i find went well wyhere the main image on the page I think that it looks professtional however I find that it fills up the full page so I need to add in a background and make this image smaller so that I can add in some images so that it dosnt look so plain. things that I dont think work well is the text as i dont think it looks very professtional and looks plain and boring so this is somthing that I will change in my next attempt.

First attempt Front cover

This is my first attempt at my front cover, things I think that went well was I think the main  image looks good on the page and the colour scheme also works well. things that i think didnt go so well was the sizeing of the main image as I think that my model looks to skinny on the page and I need to exspand her outwards so that she dosnt look abnormally thin. another thing I find needs editing is the plug I think it looks to dark and does not stand out. there also a few spelling mistakes on the front cover that I need to go back and and change.

Here is my google mock up's, things I think that went well for them are the layouts and the images, im going to incorporate alot of my ideas from my google mock ups into my final product, as i think that it works well. things that i dont think went well where the font of the type and the sizing of it.

My Orginal Photos

These are my orginal images that i took in my photoshoot, I used a various amount of angles and zoom shots to create my images. I used diffrent lightings to create a professtional look to it and found that the outcomes where very succesfull. I used a variety of shots such as close up, medium shot, low angle and high angle shot, and a zoom shot. these helped me to get a good use of working with a camera and seeing what would work the best for my magazine.

Reader profile research

Reader profiles are a breakdown of which people most commonly read/purchase the magazine. It helps the magazine companies to understand what things they need to include to try and attract there target audience to their magazine and what types of articles they need to include to fit who is reading the magazine to increase there sales by being more appealing. The types of things included in a reader profile include; age,gender,social class, economic status, style.etc. it is important for the magazine to understand there audience as it allows them to be more appealing and make the audienbce chose there magazine over any other.

This is an image of the socio-economic diagram that breaks down the diffrent section of the audience and what catergory they are placed into. this helps the mgazine understand which catergory the majority of there audience is in so when they are advertising tehy knwo what sort of stuff to include.

Conventions analysis double page spread

headline: the headline would usally be placed at the top of the page and would be of a diffrent size and font to the rest of the article and may even be a diffrent colour to the colour scheme. it can be used to inform the reader what the article is going to be about. in this case this headline is relevant to the artist giving the viewer some indication as to what it will be talking about.
subject name: the subject name is a great way to grab the raeders attention as it is the one of the things they will recognize as that is who they want to read about. having the name bold and bigger than the rest of the t6ext is important as it needs to stand out, however it is important that the colour stays with the colours scheme or it m,ay just look odd and wont be appealing. as above the darker pink on the light ppink makes the text stand out yet is not harsh and makes the page seem calm where as if they had used a bright green this would have looked to harsh.
colour scheme: this is important as it dosnt want to look harsh as this wont be appeling to the reader, i think that this double page spread is a very good choice of colours as it uses diffrent shades of pink which compliment each other making it seem calm, also it is aimed at girls as that is niki minaj audience which suggests why the magazine has used pink as it seen as a femine colour.
drop capital: the drop capital is there on the double page spread so the reader can see where to start reading.
stand first: this is the introductary paragraph that gives the reader a hint as to what the article is going to be about also adding that extra peirce of infomation.
columns: on a double page spread there is usally three colums used all the same colour and size the size is conventionally smaller than the headline. it is in colums as this makes it easier for the reader to read.
image: the image is set out very clever on this double page spread as it it is center to the pages with the text curving around nikis body making the pages nice to look at and shows that it is cleverly layed out. the image is big which makes it stand out. this is important as it is the first thing the raeder will look at and shows the reader immeadatley that this story is going to be about niki!
quotes: lastly the double page spread contains quotes that have been said by niki. this makes the reader feel asif the article is more real and not made up as they have quoted her actual words.

Conventions analysis contents page

Q's contents page
headline: the headline clearly states that this is the contents page, this lets the audience know that this page will give them all the infomation that the magazine is going to contain. for exsample if the viewer was unsure which magazine they would want to buy they may look at the contents page out of the two they are holding they will look at which one has the most infomation that they are going to enjoy reading, which makes it important for the magazine top include what each storyline is goung to be about with maybe an image that is going to make the reader want to read that storyline.
main image: the main image is of artic monkeys lead singer, this gives the reader an indication that one of the main storylines are going to include infomation about artic monkeys. this is important as it lets the audience know what kind of audience this magazine is aimed at by the genre of the artist.
contents infomation:this allows the reader to look at what the storie lines are going to be about and see if they have any intrest in it.
more images: these extra images make the page seem more full and more eye catching as the images are the first thing the veiwer will look at. also if the images are related to the info on the contents page this allows the audience to understnad what the contents is about.
extra infomation:this extra infomation allows the magazine to maybe put adverts in or talk about a recent concert for exsample this just adds to the contents and adds to the appeal to the audience.

Conventions analysis front cover

Mast head:the mast head is hidden behind the main image but as the magazine is so well known that it dosnt matter as the colour and the first letter of the mast head already lets the viewer see that it is the rollingstone magazine. i also think having the main image covering the majority of the mast head quite effective as it draws attention to the main image and who the article is about.

Colour scheme- the colour skeme of this magazine is red and white and black. i think this works really well as it allows the red to stand out yet it is only the title that is red which is clever as it makes the masthead more reconizableas it is on white background surrounded by black text.

Story lines- there are only 4 story lines on this magazine, although the usual amount is around 8 i think this acceptable as the storylines that are currently there curves arounfd the main image if any more storylines where on there it would cover the main image which wouldnt be as effective as the main image is what makes this magazine stand out to the rest.

Main image- the main image is effective as it stands out covering uop most of the front cover. as image is of someone very recognized espically with this target audience it makes the viewer pick this magazine over opthers as it who they are used to listening to is the main attraction of this magazine.

Date- The date is a definite convention of a magazine as this should be on all magazines so that the consumer can see the relevance of the story lines

bar code: this is another definate connvention of a magazine as it allows the magazine to have an i denifaction.

plug:lastly this magazine has a plug which is an extra peice of infomation that will stand out as it is usally in a box. in this case it is in a black box which makes it stand out suggesting it contain important infomation that they want the reader to spot first out of all the storylines.

Main breif

To design a front cover, contents, and double page spread of a new music magazine. All images and text must be orginal. Also there is minimum of four images must be used.
